Lizi moved to London in 1996 to start work as an art researcher for the CBBC art programme SMart. From this, she developed the sister show ‘SMart On The Road’. It was on this programme she had her first experience of presenting. Lizi was the CBBC equivalent of Handy Andy, know as Bizi Lizi! She travelled around the country decorating children’s classrooms, bedrooms, scout huts and, on one occasion, a caravan in Wales! From this programme, came the one she is most well known for ‘SMarteenies’. This is a pre-school art show and, as you know, she makes ‘finger and thumb’ pictures on the TV screen right in front of the kids eyes!
Although Lizi had great fun presenting children’s art shows, and producing new art programme formats behind the scenes, such as ‘Doodle Do’, she decided to leave the BBC behind and return to her routes in Lancashire.
For the past three years she has been running the successful arts and crafts company ‘Craftastic’. This started out as children’s art activities after school and during school holidays, but has developed and changed quite dramatically. For the past 18 months, Lizi has been teaching pottery to children, adults and adults with learning difficulties. Pottery is Lizi’s first love and has been instrumental in developing this change in her business. From here, Lizi has created ‘Pendle Pottery’ which will eventually take over from ‘Craftastic’.
‘Pendle Pottery’ is two fold. On one hand, Lizi teaches pottery for Lancashire College as well as privately at her workshop in Simonstone. She welcomes students who are complete beginners as well as experienced potters. She runs many workshops from basic techniques to the exciting ‘RAKU’ method.
‘Pendle Pottery’ is also the name of a range of pottery Lizi sells in local outlets and craft fairs all over the North West. Her pottery has a Pendle Witch theme and includes Cauldron Candles, Spell bottles, witch incense burners and lucky black cats. She also has a range of distinctive domestic ware.
If you would like any information about pottery classes held at Simonstone, would like to book a pottery party or add your name to the mailing list to find out about future events, please do not hesitate to contact Lizi by any of the following ways:
